The partnership with Cyan will furthermore bring improvements to the development of ResidualVM, an integral part of the 25th Myst anniversary collection as well and used to ensure the compatibility of Myst III – Exile with recent systems. The new versions of Myst and Riven ( aka Myst II) will use ScummVM to run on modern PCs, the VM developers have said, while a new partnership between ScummVM and Cyan will ensure an even better support for the series in the upcoming future. The creators of Myst made use of Kickstarter crowdfunding to fund Myst 25th Anniversary Collection, a new exclusive edition including the seven official games of the saga both in physical (on DVD) and digital versions, plus goodies and additional contents that are obviously not to be missed for the most enthusiastic fans. The adventurers’ two most beloved virtual machines will indeed be an integral part of the new exclusive “package” prepared by Cyan Inc., in order to ease old and new players’ return to the surreal worlds of the adventure that helped establish the CD-ROM format as an essential element for PCs from the Nineties. This coming September will mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of Myst release, and the developers of ScummVM and ResidualVM have announced that they will take part in the celebrations in a rather direct way.
